Youth and Adulthood. Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, into a family of Scots-Irish Presbyterians. His parents Andrew and Elizabeth (nee Hutchinson) Jackson had emigrated with their sons Robert (b. 1765) and Hugh (b. 1763) to colonial North America from County Antrim in what is now Northern Ireland.
