Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein (born 30 January 1962) is King of Jordan, having ascended the throne on 7 February 1999. He is a member of the Hashemite dynasty, who have been the reigning royal family of Jordan since 1921, and is considered a 41st-generation direct descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad .
As the 41st generation direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, King Abdullah II has taken the lead in advancing harmony and peace both within Islam and among the world’s great religions.
Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein is the 41st direct descendent of Prophet Muhammad and the present king of Jordan. He belongs to the Royal Hashemite family, the rulers of Jordan since 1920s, and took the throne from his father, Hussein. Abdullah studied in England for sometime before starting his career with British military.
