During production of Toy Story in 1994, Pixar began referring to itself as Pixar Animation Studios, and dropped the square logo in favor of a wordmark set in the Charlemagne Bold typeface. This logo was created by current Pixar CCO Pete Docter.

When Pixar was established as an animation studio in 1994, the now-iconic animated intro with the company's mascot Luxo Jr., was introduced.
