Roberto Clemente (Carolina, 18 de agosto de 1934 — Isla Verde, 31 de dezembro de 1972) foi um jogador de beisebol porto-riquenho que atuou durante toda a sua carreira na Major League Baseball pelo Pittsburgh Pirates. Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker (Spanish pronunciation: [roˈβeɾto enˈrike kleˈmente (ɣ)walˈkeɾ]; August 18, 1934 – December 31, 1972) was a Puerto Rican professional baseball player who played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates, primarily as a right fielder.
In 1971, the 37-year-old Clemente led the Pirates back to the World Series, where Clemente hit .414 to power Pittsburgh to another world title en route to the Series’ Most Valuable Player Award. Clemente recorded his 3,000th career hit late in the 1972 season, becoming just the 11th player to reach the milestone.

Despite playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates and being established in Pittsburgh for many years, [3] Roberto Clemente insisted his wife Vera return to Puerto Rico so Roberto Jr. could be born there a day before his own birthday. The first seven years of Clemente's life were spent between Puerto Rico and Pittsburgh. [4] .
