The course (Commissioning Course Short) takes eight weeks to complete and is based directly on the Regular Commissioning Course. It is split equally into four modules. It is an intense, challenging course designed to teach the fundamentals of soldiering and develop Officer Cadets as leaders.

Renowned world-wide as an international centre of excellence for leadership training, the Academy has welcomed cadets from across the globe. Of the 200 cadets commissioning 35 had been sent from 26 different countries including: Armenia, Ethiopia, Morocco, Montenegro, Iraq and Uruguay.
While Army Officer Selection Boards (AOSB) for the Regular Army Commissioning Course continue to be held at Leighton House, Westbury; since 2021 AOSB for Late Entry Officers have been held at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Pre-RMAS Phase B is a mandatory course for all international cadets entering the Regular Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
