Moody is a past member of the board of directors of the Corporation of Yaddo and currently serves on the board of Archipelago Books. He is former secretary of the PEN American Center. He co-founded the Young Lions Book Award at the New York Public Library. In May 2018 he received an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
