Maurice Thiriet ( French: [tiʁjɛ]; 2 May 1906 – 28 September 1972) was a French composer of classical and film music. Biography. Born in Meulan, Yvelines, Maurice Thiriet attended the Paris Conservatory from 1925 to 1931, studying counterpoint and fugue with Charles Koechlin, and orchestration and arrangement under Alexis Roland-Manuel.

Élève de Charles Silver au Conservatoire de Paris, puis de Charles Koechlin et Roland-Manuel, il reçoit les conseils de Maurice Ravel et d' Albert Roussel.

He began composing at the age of only 13 years and was funded primarily by famous composer Maurice Ravel. Thiriet then studied in Paris and was best known for his more than 80 film scores. In addition, however, he also wrote orchestral works, songs, ballets and an opera.
