Julio Macat, A.S.C. (born June 20, 1957) is an Argentine-American cinematographer. Early life and career. Born in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, Macat started his career off as a camera operator, under the guidance of director Andrei Konchalovsky, and worked on four of his movies including Runaway Train and Tango & Cash. Julio Macat was born in Rosario, Argentina, on June 20, 1957, and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1971, at the age of 14. Macat attended Beverly Hills High School and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Macat began his career at the age of 19 working as a camera technician at Filmart.

She has one daughter with Maurice Phillips. In 2000, she married Argentine-born cinematographer Julio Macat, gaining three stepsons: Maximillian, Alexander and Andreas. In 2005, at the age of 44, she learned that she had latent autoimmune diabetes, a form of type 1 diabetes that is most often diagnosed in middle age.
