Norfolk, John Mowbray, 3rd duke of (1415–61). After coming of age in 1436, Norfolk had a brief career in public service, in the relief of Calais from siege, as warden of the east march, and as an ambassador in Anglo-French negotiations.
Sir John de Mowbray, KG 3rd Duke of Norfolk (12 Sep 1415 – 6 Nov 1461) married Eleanor Bourchier by 1424, while they were both children and he was a ward of her mother's. A dispensation for them to stay married was dated 9 March 1433/4.
As Duke of Norfolk, he was portrayed by Noel Johnson in the BBC's fifteen-part serial adaptation of Shakespeare's history plays, An Age of Kings in 1960.
