Jagmeet Singh Jimmy Dhaliwal MP (/ dʒ ə ɡ ˈ m iː t s ɪ ŋ / jug-MEET SING; born January 2, 1979) is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) since 2017. Singh has sat as the member of Parliament (MP) for Burnaby South since 2019.

Jagmeet Singh served as an Ontario MPP from 2011 until 2017, when he won the leadership of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP).
Since 2017, the NDP has been led by Jagmeet Singh, who is the first visible minority to lead a major federal party in Canada on a permanent basis. Following the 2021 Canadian federal election, it is the fourth-largest party in the House of Commons, with 24 seats.
Jagmeet Singh is a Canadian lawyer-turned-politician who came into the limelight in 2017 when he was elected as the Leader of the New Democratic Party, making him the first non-white leader of a major political party in Canada. He is a practising Sikh of Punjabi descent.
As Leader of Canada’s NDP, Jagmeet believes that how we pay for and deliver services to Canadians must work everyone. Jagmeet Singh was born in Scarborough, Ontario and spent some time growing up on Canada's East coast before moving back to Southern Ontario. As a kid, he often felt on the margins and left out.
