Edward Morgan Forster OM CH (1 January 1879 – 7 June 1970) was an English author, best known for his novels, particularly A Room with a View (1908), Howards End (1910) and A Passage to India (1924). He also wrote numerous short stories, essays, speeches and broadcasts, as well as a limited number of biographies and some pageant plays.

Edward Morgan Forster (January 1, 1879 – June 7, 1970) was an English novelist, short story writer, and essayist. He is most famous for his novels. Forster is also known for a creed of life which can be summed up in the epigraph to his 1910 novel Howards End , "Only connect."

Undergraduate. After a number of unhappy years in public schools, Forster came up to King's in 1897 to read Classics. His tutor, Nathaniel Wedd, was of some influence on the young Forster, encouraging him to become a writer and more generally being responsible, according to Forster, for "such awakening as has befallen me".
