François Girardon (French pronunciation: [fʁɑ̃swa ʒiʁaʁdɔ̃]; 17 March 1628 – 1 September 1715) was a French sculptor of the Louis XIV style or French Baroque, best known for his statues and busts of Louis XIV and for his statuary in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.

François Girardon, né le 10 mars 1628 à Troyes et mort le 1er septembre 1715 à Paris, est un sculpteur français. Biographie. Girardon est l'un des maîtres de la statuaire décorative et monumentale. Fils d'un fondeur, élève du sculpteur François Anguier, il devint le protégé du chancelier Séguier qui l'envoya parfaire sa formation à Rome.
Premier sculpteur du roi 1628-1715. Engagé par Fouquet à Vaux-le-Vicomte comme Le Brun, Le Vau et Le Nôtre, Girardon est employé à son tour par Louis XIV à Versailles. Il est avec Coysevox le plus important sculpteur de Versailles tant par l’importance de sa production que par sa qualité.
