George Kearsley Shaw (Bierton, Buckinghamshire, 10 de dezembro de 1751 – Londres, 22 de julho de 1813) foi um botânico e zoólogo britânico. Foi eleito membro da Royal Society em 1789. George Kearsley Shaw (1751–1813) was the first to describe and name Green Junglefowl G. varius ( Fig. 1 ), which is endemic to Indonesia. The origin of the species, which he called Variegated Pheasant Phasianus varius, was unknown to Shaw, but he thought it was probably an Indian bird ( Shaw 1798 ).

He became the assistant lecturer in botany at the University of Oxford and was a co-founder of the Linnean Society. In 1791, he became assistant keeper of the natural history department at the British Museum.
