Carver Andress Mead (born 1 May 1934) is an American scientist and engineer. He currently holds the position of Gordon and Betty Moore Professor Emeritus of Engineering and Applied Science at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), having taught there for over 40 years.

Carver Mead is a renowned computer scientist and electrical engineer who pioneered the field of very-large-scale integration (VLSI) and neuromorphic engineering. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from Caltech and is a recipient of several honorary degrees and awards.
Carver Mead is a renowned engineer and educator who developed VSLI, a method for integrating thousands of transistors on a chip. He also founded the Computation and Neural Systems program at Caltech, which explores the intersection of computing and neuroscience.
