Jeffrey Adgate "Jeff" Dean (born July 23, 1968) is an American computer scientist and software engineer. Since 2018, he has been the lead of Google AI. He was appointed Alphabet's chief scientist in 2023 after a reorganization of Alphabet's AI focused groups.
Jeffrey Dean is a pioneer in machine learning and AI research and applications at Google. He co-founded the Google Brain project, designed and implemented TensorFlow and Pathways systems, and led many projects in language modeling, computer vision, and responsible AI.
