26 de abr. de 2022 · He was the second son of Bolesław III the Generous, Duke of Legnica-Brzeg by his first wife, Princess Margareta (Markéta) of Bohemia, daughter of King Wenceslaus II. Louis was the youngest son of the Ducal couple who survive adulthood.
Louis I the Fair, also known as the Wise or the Righteous ( Polish: Ludwik I Sprawiedliwy, Roztropny, or Prawy) or Louis I of Brzeg ( Ludwik I brzeski; c. 1321 – 6/23 December 1398) was Duke of Legnica from 1342 to 1346 (jointly with his elder brother Wenceslaus I until 1345) and of Brzeg from 1358 until his death.
When Ludwig I. Herzog von Brieg-Liegnitz was born about 1321, in Legnica, Wrocław, Poland, his father, Boleslaw III the Generous, was 31 and his mother, Margaret of Bohemia Duchess of Wroclaw, was 26. He had at least 3 sons and 3 daughters with Princess Agnes von Glogau.
The Hedwig Codex was commissioned by Louis I of Liegnitz-Brieg (Louis of Legnica and Brzeg; Polish: Ludwik I brzeski, German: Ludwig I) with his wife, Agnes of Glogau. Louis I of Liegnitz was also Saint Hedwig's great-great-great-grandson.
