Zachariah Chandler (December 10, 1813 – November 1, 1879) was an American businessman, politician, and one of the founders of the Republican Party, whose radical wing he dominated as a lifelong abolitionist.
Zachariah Chandler was a Republican politician from Michigan who served as secretary of the interior from 1875 to 1877. He tried to reform the department and was later elected to the Senate, where he died in 1879.
