Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist (8 August 1881 – 13 November 1954) was a German Generalfeldmarschall (Field Marshal) of the Wehrmacht during World War II. Born into the Prussian noble family von Kleist, Kleist entered the Prussian Army in 1900 and commanded a cavalry squadron during World War I.

Paul Ludwig von Kleist, German general during World War II. A master of blitzkrieg, Kleist participated in the German invasion of Poland and led the tank corps that broke through the Ardennes Forest and thus began the rout of the French army in June 1940. He spent the remainder of the war on the Eastern Front.

Ewald von Kleist was a cavalry officer who rose to command 1st Panzergruppe in the invasions of Poland, France, Greece and Yugoslavia. He was dismissed by Hitler in 1944 for disobeying orders and convicted of war crimes in 1948.
