Nicolas de Catinat de La Fauconnerie, seigneur de Saint-Gratien, né le 1 er décembre 1637 à Paris (paroisse Saint-Benoît-le-Bétourné) et mort le 22 février 1712 à Saint-Gratien, est un militaire français du XVII e siècle.

The son of a magistrate, Catinat was born in Paris on 1 September 1637. He entered the Gardes Françaises at an early age and distinguished himself at the Siege of Lille in 1667.

Nicolas Catinat (nēkōlä´ kätēnä´), 1637–1712, marshal of France. The son of a magistrate, he won promotion by merit rather than by wealth or descent. In the War of the Grand Alliance he commanded against Duke Victor Amadeus II of Savoy, whom he defeated in N Italy at Staffarda (1690) and at Marsaglia (1693).
