Field Marshal George Douglas-Hamilton, 1st Earl of Orkney KT (9 February 1666 – 29 January 1737) was a British soldier and Scottish nobleman and the first British Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

He played cricket for Wiltshire in the 1927 Minor Counties Championship. [1] He was a member of Edinburgh Town Council from 1935–40 and served as a Commissioner of General Board of Control (Scotland) from 1936–39 and as a Commissioner for Special Areas in Scotland from 1937-39.
