  5. William P. Kellogg was a lawyer and politician. When he was eighteen, he moved to Peoria, Illinois and became a teacher; later he became a lawyer in Canton, Illinois. Kellogg worked alongside Abraham Lincoln, who, after becoming president, appointed Kellogg as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Nebraska Territory.
