Sir Hudson Lowe GCMG KCB (28 July 1769 – 10 January 1844) was an Anglo-Irish General during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars who is best known for his time as Governor of St Helena, where he was the "gaoler" of the Emperor Napoleon.

Hudson Lowe was born on June 28, 1769 at Galway, Ireland, the son of a military surgeon. He himself became an officer and was promoted General after Napoleon's abdication in 1814. After the Emperor's second abdication, Lowe became his jailer at St.Helena.
Sir Hudson Lowe was a British general, governor of St. Helena when Napoleon I was held captive there; he was widely criticized for his unbending treatment of the former emperor. Lowe held several important commands in the war with France from 1793. He was knighted in 1814. He arrived on the island.
