Daughter of Manuel García Sr. (1775-1832); Sister of Manuel Garcia Jr. (1805-1906) and María Malibrán (1808–1836); Mother of Louise Héritte-Viardot (1841–1918), Marianne Viardot (1854-1919) and Paul Viardot (1857-1941).

Pauline Viardot, née Garcia (1821-1910) was one of the most remarkable, accomplished musical professionals of the 19 th century. Born into a family of music professionals, she wanted to be a pianist, but following the early death of her sister soprano Maria Malibran, her family insisted that she train as a singer.
