Star Trek: First Contact is a 1996 American science fiction film directed by Jonathan Frakes in his feature film debut. It is the eighth movie of the Star Trek franchise, and the second starring the cast of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
First Contact foi o último filme da franquia Star Trek a ter um modelo físico para a Enterprise. A equipe de efeitos combinou tomadas de controle de movimento da miniatura com um fundo gerado por computação gráfica para poder criar a primeira cena da nave no filme.
Ao combater uma invasão de Borgs, uma raça tecnorgânica que transforma seres humanos em máquinas, Picard é infectado mas, quando eles abrem uma fenda temporal para destruir a Terra no passado, a Enterprise também recua no tempo até ao exacto momento em que Zeffran Cochrane descobre a velocidade warp e faz o primeiro contacto com seres alienígenas.
