Essentially unseen until 1969 and a total flop at the box office when it was finally released, Strange Voyage is ambitious, hilarious, terrifying, and completely effective, a work that shows influences including rural comedy (the small town reminded me at time of that in Mafioso ), Alfred Hitchcock, films noir, and straightforward romance.
