Coast Guard is a 1939 American adventure film released by Columbia Pictures, directed by Edward Ludwig and starring Randolph Scott, Frances Dee and Ralph Bellamy. It is set before World War II. The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Frances Dee replaced Gene Tierney in the role of Nancy Bliss.
One student is hot-shot candidate Jake Fischer, a top high school competitive swimmer who rejected scholarships to every Ivy League college to enlist in the Coast Guard. During training, Jake meets local school teacher, Emily Thomas, and they begin a casual relationship.
The U.S. Coast Guard is the only domestic Armed Service of the United States. It patrols the waters in and around the U.S. providing maritime security against human traffickers and drug dealers while also conducting rescues from the sea or the air above of stranded boaters and others.
