At the breaking of the Civil War the garrison of Fort Laramie splits between the sympathezers of the two different factions, but when the fort is attacked by the Sioux, they unite their forces to fight them.
At the dawn of the American Civil War, tensions begin to mount between Northern and Southern sympathizers stationed at Fort Laramie in Wyoming.

Although they have been promised a shipment of gold in exchange for their acceptance of a peace treaty, Sioux warriors in the Wyoming territory attack a supply wagon heading for Fort Laramie. The fort's soldiers, led by Capt. James Tenslip, successfully defend the wagon.
