    (Russian: Солдатик, romanized: Soldatik) is a 2019 Russian-language film. It is based on the true story of the youngest soldier in World War II, Sergei Aleshkov, who is force to quickly grow up to fight for his survival and becomes a Soviet war hero.

    In August 1942, Sergei Andreevich Aleshkov, a six-year-old boy and the youngest child of four lived in the forest village of Gryn, Russia. He often compliments nature and dreams of being a veteran during the midst of World War II. When Nazi airships raid the region, Sergei's mother and brother Petya go missing. His frantic aunt arrives persuading him to flee immediately after telling him all the other relatives were executed due to the village used for a partisan base. German soldiers burn the house forcing Sergei into the woods to survive on his own and becomes lost.

    A few days later, Sergei is found in an exhausted state by a reconnaissance group of the 142nd Guards Rifle Regiment from the 47th Guards Rifle Division in the Soviet Union Red Army. Commander Kuznetsov and the scouts feel affectionate with the kid and feed him provisions. A nurse named Katya treats Sergei’s wounds and the injured soldiers there are fascinated of the boy's cheerful disposition. Katya asks the commander to let the boy stay with the battalion while Sergei's presence helps lift the weight of war off, but Kuznetsov is adamant to send the boy to an orphanage. Kuznetsov changes his mind after an emotional embrace and suits up Sergei for combat in The Great Patriotic War and the Soviet troops call him "Soldier Boy".

    Enemies launch an air strike on the battalion injuring more soldiers and take shelter. Sergei faces the harsh frontline realities and wants to be useful so he makes up enlighten stories despite his illiteracy. Doing his own scouting mission, Sergei spotted several spies and the troops seized them praising the boy's intelligence. Kuznetsov legally adopts Sergei and the boy even tries boosting him to confess his love for Katya, but wrongfully assume that she is interested in another man. The base is attacked by the Germans again. Sergei provides the army with all his might supplying ammunition in a dugout. Ignoring the soldiers' demand to stay safe, he hears that the phone communication line to their colonel is down and follows when seeing the ordered soldier get fatally hurt and dying, learning how to fix the wires Sergei actually takes the risk crawling into the battlefield and fixed the connection himself, allowing the troops to call back reinforcement, saving everyone's life.

    Later, Kuznetsov finally confesses his feelings for Katya and asks to be Sergei’s mother. A high command letter soon dispatches the regiment from the base. Traveling on the road they stop at a house of peasants to rest and help remove an undetonated projectile. However, they come across a minefield and some of the allies that Sergei was close with have died in the explosion. After arriving at their new destination, meeting General Ostashev who is also impress of Sergei’s ambition and awards him the Medal of Military Merit. The base is bombed overnight and Sergei attempts to save his new father buried in the rubble. As Kuznetsov recovers in the infirmary, Sergei realized he has become an inseparable part of the team, without his real family beside him he chooses to move on and is forever honored as the youngest defender in the Battle of Stalingrad.
