Manuel Legris. Manuel Legris (October 10, 1964, Paris, France) is a French ballet dancer. He was an étoile (star dancer) of the Paris Opera Ballet for 23 years. On September 1, 2010, he began direction of the Vienna State Ballet. He was appointed artistic director of La Scala Theatre Ballet in December 2020.

Manuel Legris, né le 19 octobre 1964 dans le 11e arrondissement de Paris 1, est un danseur et directeur de ballet français. Il est étoile du ballet de l'Opéra de Paris. Son mentor est Rudolf Noureev 2, ses compagnes de danse sont Élisabeth Maurin, Monique Loudières, Élisabeth Platel et notamment Aurélie Dupont 3, 4 .
Manuel Legris is a former danseur étoile of the Paris Opéra Ballet and a renowned choreographer. He has been the Ballet Director of the Teatro alla Scala since 2020, where he has performed and staged many ballets, including his own version of Sylvia.

For more than twenty years Legris has been one of the company’s most brilliant and acclaimed étoiles. An artist of incomparable commitment, energy, generosity, and versatility, he was the last étoile of the Nureyev-era remaining at the Opera.
