CLEVELAND, Ohio – More than 80 years after the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run cut a swath of terror through town, Clevelanders remained fascinated with the gruesome killer.
The Cleveland Police efforts to identify each of the thirteen victims of the Torso Murderer of Kingsbury Run were extensive. At the crime scene, police collected evidence and photographed the area. Using the physical attributes of the victim, police combed through missing persons records attempting to find a match.
In four years, the Cleveland Torso Murderer killed, dismembered, and castrated 12 different victims, and was never identified.
The TORSO MURDERS, committed between Sept. 1935 and Aug. 1938, were believed to be serial killings. Most of the bodies were discovered in or near the KINGSBURY RUN area—a creek bed that ran from E. 90th St. and Kinsman Rd. SE to the CUYAHOGA RIVER.
