John Stacpoole Haycraft CBE (11 December 1926 – 23 May 1996) was an English language teacher and author who founded the International House World Organisation, which has shaped the evolution of the profession of English language teaching (ELT).

John Haycraft has been a professional artist since 1971. Trained as a perspective artist he has over the years developed his interest in watercolour as a medium for expressive painting particularly well adapted for plein-air work.
John Haycraft has been a professional artist since 1971, a principal of the architectural illustration firm Haycraft Duloy since 1974, lecturer, exhibitor and has produced three books of paintings and drawings.
John Haycraft was an inspiring teacher and educational pioneer. He was an early advocate of the wider context of learning outside the classroom by bringing people together in social and dramatic contexts.
It was compiled by Brita Haycraft, co-founder of International House. John Haycraft was, of course, the original chronicler of IH stories, Babel in Spain (Hamish Hamilton 1958) and Babel in London (Hamish Hamilton 1965) and Adventures of a Language Traveller (Constable 1958).
