James Michael Peterik (/ ˈ p iː t ə r ɪ k / PEE-tə-rik; born November 11, 1950) is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the founder of the rock band Survivor , as vocalist and guitarist in The Ides of March , and as co-writer of the anthem " Eye of the Tiger ", the theme from the 1982 film Rocky III .

Jim Peterik is a survivor. Those words were prophetically spoken first on the back of his first solo album “Don’t Fight The Feeling” back in the seventies. In the decades since, Jim has lived up to that term. Jim’s home base has always been The Ides Of March, where Jim wrote and sang the evergreen hit “Vehicle”.
