Robert Edward Peter Gascoyne-Cecil, 6th Marquess of Salisbury, DL (24 October 1916 – 11 July 2003), styled Viscount Cranborne from 1947 to 1972, was a British landowner and Conservative politician.
Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, 3rd Marquess of Salisbury. The seventh Earl was a politician and served as Lord Chamberlain of the Household for many years. In 1789, he was created Marquess of Salisbury in the Peerage of Great Britain. He was succeeded by his eldest son, the second marquess.
Robert Michael James Gascoyne-Cecil, 7th Marquess of Salisbury, Baron Gascoyne-Cecil, KG, KCVO, PC, DL (born 30 September 1946) is a British Conservative politician. From 1979 to 1987 he represented South Dorset in the House of Commons, and in the 1990s he was Leader of the House of Lords under his courtesy title of Viscount Cranborne.

Robert Gascoyne Cecil, 7th Marquess of Salisbury, was born in 1946 and educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He succeeded to the title upon the death of his father in 2003. Lord Salisbury spent several years in banking in California and London.
