Cyril Nicholas Henty-Dodd [1] (28 July 1935 – 29 August 2009 [2] ), better known by his stage name Simon Dee, was a British television interviewer and radio disc jockey who hosted a twice-weekly BBC TV chat show, Dee Time, in the late 1960s.

BBC’s Dee Time ‘s five series ran between 1967 and 1969 and broadcast 157 shows and subsequently on ITV with The Simon Dee Show in 1970. The format rarely changed, two or three guests to chat with Simon and a couple of musical guests to pad out the variety.

His Dee Time show was watched by 15 million people and his casual, cocky, manner made him the embodiment of the Swinging Sixties. In the process, his style paved the way for future chat show hosts from Michael Parkinson to Chris Evans.
