Chansons des mers froides (French: Songs from the Cold Seas) is a 1994 album by French musician Hector Zazou. Zazou enlisted several singers for the recording, such as Siouxsie, Björk, John Cale, Suzanne Vega and Jane Siberry among others, and native singers of the Arctic.

In 1994, he released the album Chansons des mers froides (called Songs from the Cold Seas for the anglophone market). The album was based on ocean-themed traditional folk songs from northern countries, such as Canada, Finland, Iceland, and Japan.
In the third, The Long Journey, we find the voices of Suzanne Vega and John Cale on lyrics inspired by a poem by Oscar Wilde. It is a warm and bright song on the theme of travel. The darkest moment is the lighthouse.
A bunch of varied sea songs from Zazou, with impressive guest artists. You can easily recognize the ZNR coolness in these tunes; the prescence of clarinet and sparsity of the arrangements, but the mid 90s outfit (trip hop drums and all) isn't quite as interesting as the patchwork music of his earlier days.
