The George Washington University (GW or GWU) is a private federally-chartered research university in Washington, D.C. Originally named Columbian College, it was chartered in 1821 by the United States Congress and is the first university founded under Washington D.C.'s jurisdiction.

Admissions Information. Non-Residential & Adult Learner Programs. Separate programs are offered in the School of Nursing, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the College of Professional Studies for students wishing to continue or complete a professional degree or to obtain a second professional bachelor’s degree.
