The house is the ancestral home of the Lebanon family, where the last of whom – Lady Lebanon (Helen Haye) and her son Lord William Lebanon (Marius Goring) – live in lazy, faded grandeur.
Lady Lebanon implores her son, William, to marry a cousin and preserve the prestige of their lineage. But William’s intended only has eyes for an architect… and the help has been acting awfully strange.
