Formed in 1965, the group originally featured vocalist and rhythm guitarist Marty Balin, vocalist Signe Toly Anderson, lead guitarist and vocalist Jorma Kaukonen, rhythm guitarist and vocalist Paul Kantner, bassist Bob Harvey and drummer Jerry Peloquin.

25 de jan. de 2018 · The Jefferson Airplane established its initial six-piece lineup with bluegrass standup bassist Bob Harvey, martial drummer Jerry Peloquin, and jazz-folk singer Signe Anderson (b. September 15, 1941, Seattle), who Balin spotted at the Drinking Gourd.
The band was completed with the bassist Bob HARVEY and the drummer Jerry PELOQUIN. They started performing in small clubs and soon Peloquin and Harvey were fired and replaced by the drummer Skip SPENCE (later Moby Grape) and the bassist Jack CASADY, an excellent virtuoso known as one of the best rock bassists ever.
The initial band lineup was completed by drummer Jerry Peloquin and bassist Bob Harvey. The name of the band was coined by Kaukonen who, in his days as a blues guitar player, had been given the nickname Blind Thomas Jefferson Airplane.
