Catherine, Lady Walpole ( née Shorter; 1682 – 20 August 1737) was the first wife of the first British prime minister Sir Robert Walpole .

The Walpole collection was a collection of paintings and other works of art at Houghton Hall in Norfolk and at other residences of Sir Robert Walpole. Many of the important works were sold in 1779 to Catherine the Great of Russia, and the Hermitage Museum still owns more than 120 works from the collection.
Catherine, Lady Walpole. Dahl's half-length painting of Sir Robert's wife Catherine shows the sitter as a young woman and hangs today at Houghton Hall today. In actuality, Lady Walpole did not feel comfortable at Houghton and preferred her house on Dover Street, London.
Sir Robert Walpole was the head of Innocent X. This last is rather a disappointment first 'Prime Minister' of Great Britain, serving the first two when compared with the finest of all papal portraits, which Hanoverian Kings continuously from 1721 until 1742.
