1 de jan. de 1998 · Banjo is handled mostly by Rob McCoury and the superb Craig Smith, and Del McCoury adds two fine lead vocals, the jaunty “We’re Steppin’ Out Tonight” and Marty Stuart and Harlan Howard’s mournful “Oh, What A Silent Night”. On the latter, Stuart and Ronnie McCoury share harmonies and trade mandolin breaks.

Whether out in front of a fiddle tune or in a supporting role, Hicks shows why he remains one of the best. His tone and sense of timing are impeccable. He's joined here by Ronnie & Rob McCoury, Craig Smith, Buddy Spicher, Charlie Cushman, Bryan Sutton, Marty Stuart and Skaggs.
Though Marty describes that first effort as "a 19-year-old kid punching at it," the album was a real showcase for Stuart's instrumental versatility. In addition to acoustic guitar, mandolin and fiddle, the LP featured Marty's first efforts with a String Bender.
