Asmāʾ bint Abī Bakr (Arabic: أسماء بنت أبي بكر; c. 595/594 – 694-695CE) nicknamed Dhat an-Nitaqayn (meaning she with the two belts) was one of the companions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and half-sister of his third wife Aisha.
Asma bint Abu Bakr Siddiq (R.A.) was the mother of Abdullha bin Zubair (R.A.). Her father Abu Bakr Siddiq (R.A.) was a trusted friend of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.). Her mother was Qutailah bint Abdul Uzza, first wife of Abu Bakr (R.A.).
Asma' was a woman of great nobility, wisdom and patience. She was among the early converts to Makkah and being the daughter of the great Companion Abu Bakr, she was brought up in an atmosphere of purity and devotion and shared close ties with the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
