St. John's University was founded in 1870, by the Vincentian Fathers of the Roman Catholic Church in response to an invitation by the first Bishop of Brooklyn, John Loughlin, to provide the youth of the city with a Catholic intellectual and moral education.
Forty Years of DC Alumni Networking Celebrated. For the last 40 years, the annual St. John’s University Alumni Insider’s View of the US Capital program has brought students and alumni together in Washington, DC, for a networking opportunity that demonstrates the far reach of the University family.
This exclusive annual program is held on-site in Washington, DC and will allow you to meet St. John’s alumni who hold positions in some of the nation’s top industries, including legal, healthcare, law enforcement, political, business, education and communications.

He is the director of the Saint John Society (SJS- www.socsj.org), a new Catholic Organization of priests and missionaries that work in USA, Italy, Argentina, and Uruguay. He led the Catholic Newman Centers at Oregon State University and at Portland State University for 3 years before coming to Washington, DC and starting the SJS house of studies for their seminarian theological students.
The mission of Saint John Paul II Seminary is to provide an environment that forms men to be committed disciples of Christ who are free to respond to God’s call to the priesthood, including the call to the celibate life.
