David Jaymes (born 28 December 1954) is an English musician and songwriter best known as the founder member of the Leyton Buzzards (1976–1980) and the multi-hit salsa band Modern Romance (1980–1985). He now works in Music Management and Consultancy.
David Jaymes has since moved into the management and consultancy side of the music industry. He worked as the music supervisor on the film Fascination (2004) starring Jacqueline Bisset and James Naughton. He has also worked again with John Du Prez, composing music for commercials and feature films.
ABOUT THE BAND. David Jaymes co-formed Modern Romance in 1981. That same year, drummer and vocalist Andy Kyriacou joined the band. Andy's PR ideas were incorporated by the band for the release of the single Everybody Salsa and within 8 weeks Modern Romance had their first chart hit.

Biography. David Jaymes. Jump to Edit. Mini Bio. David Jaymes was the bass player for 1980's Latin American pop band Modern Romance , which he formed with Geoff Deane. The pair had previously been part of the 'Leyton Buzzards', an English punk/rock band that produced one minor hit, 'Saturday Night (Beneath the Plastic Palm Trees)'.
Modern Romance. Modern Romance emerged in 1981 from the remnants of UK punk band, the Leyton Buzzards. Singer Geoffrey Deanne and bass player David Jaymes’ initial attempts to blend in with the new romantic movement were unsuccessful, although the connections they made on the London club scene during this time were to aid their developing sound.
