Leopoldo de' Medici (6 November 1617 – 10 November 1675) was an Italian cardinal, scholar, patron of the arts and Governor of Siena. He was the brother of Ferdinando II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany .
Biografia. Leopoldo, foi um príncipe Toscano que nasceu no Palácio Pitti em Florença, a capital do Grão-Ducado da Toscana, na altura governado por seu pai, o Grão-Duque Cosme II. A sua mãe, a Arquiduquesa Maria Madalena de Áustria, era irmã de Margarida da Áustria, Rainha da Espanha, e do imperador Fernando II.

The marble depicts Leopold de' Medici (1617-1675) in cardinal's robes, seated on a padded seat while holding a document in his hands. The work is characterised by a vigorous twisting of the body and an accurate rendering of the details of the cardinal's habit.
