8 de nov. de 2023 · Yellow fever is an epidemic-prone vector-borne vaccine preventable viral disease that is transmitted to humans by the bites of infected mosquitos. In some of the unvaccinated individuals, the virus can cause severe illness including jaundice and bleeding (severe cases).

Transmission is primarily via Aedes and Haemagogus species of mosquito. It can present with varying clinical features ranging from a self-limited, mild febrile illness to severe hemorrhage and liver disease.
Yellow fever is a viral disease of typically short duration. In most cases, symptoms include fever, chills, loss of appetite, nausea, muscle pains—particularly in the back—and headaches. Symptoms typically improve within five days.
