  2. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their fellow soldiers. During training, all officer cadets learn to live by the academy’s motto: ‘Serve to Lead’.

  3. Training to be an Officer. Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. There are three intakes each year for potential regular officers, in January, May and September. The commissioning course lasts for 42 weeks. Army Officers are people who have ambitious goals.

  4. There can be additional companies of Army Reserve or 'professionally qualified officers' in the Academy who take part in shorter (1–2 months) commissioning courses. Each company is commanded by a major and named after a famous battle or campaign in which the British Army fought.

  5. Renowned world-wide as an international centre of excellence for leadership training, the Academy has welcomed cadets from across the globe. Of the 200 cadets commissioning 35 had been sent from 26 different countries including: Armenia, Ethiopia, Morocco, Montenegro, Iraq and Uruguay.

  6. The commissioning course lasts for 44 weeks. British Applications: The Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB) is the interview process through which you are selected to train at Sandhurst. AOSB takes place in Westbury near Warminster. You can find out more about AOSB on the British Army jobs website.

The Sandhurst Medal was introduced in 2016 to recognise the extraordinary achievement of those International Students who successfully complete the Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The recipients of the Sandhurst Medal join an esteemed list of over 5400 International Alumni from over 129 different countries.
