St. John's University (SJU) was a Christian university in Shanghai. It was founded in 1879 by American missionaries. After the founding of the People's Republic of China , the Communist government closed the university in 1952.
圣约翰大学（St. John's University），简称圣约翰、约大，诞生于1879年，初名圣约翰书院。1881年成为中国首座全英语授课的学校。1892年起开设大学课程，1905年升格为大学，是中国第一所现代高等教会学府。1913年开始招收研究生。
