Conceived in 1909 by the Indiana Knights of Columbus, and named for Fr. Pierre Gibault, the Gibault School for Boys was dedicated on October 9, 1921, in Terre Haute, Indiana as a "home for wayward boys".

From the original Smith Mansion, Gibault has grown to become a beautiful 360-acre campus. Gibault has expanded services from treating only “wayward boys” to providing a variety of residential and community-based treatment services to all genders, children, families, and members of the community.
Gibault was founded in 1921 by the Indiana Knights of Columbus as a refuge for wayward boys. Over the years, Gibault has evolved to meet the needs of at-risk youth everywhere.
His mother sent him to the Gibault School for Boys in Terre Haute, Indiana. Gibault was a school for juvenile delinquents and was run by Catholic priests. A Childhood Behind Bars. Charles Manson fled Gibault twice. The first time returning to his mother who only sent him back.
From academics to sports to the arts, students find their home at Gibault. With small class sizes, a wide range of courses, and 45 available hours of college credit through SLU, our academic program provides students with opportunities to succeed.
