William Savile, 2nd Marquess of Halifax (1665 – 31 August 1700), was the son of George Savile, 1st Viscount Halifax and Dorothy Savile, Viscountess Halifax (née Spencer). He was educated in Geneva in 1677 and matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, in 1681, but did not take a degree.
The title Marquess of Halifax was created in the Peerage of England in 1682 for the George Savile, 1st Earl of Halifax. He had previously been created Baron Savile , of Elland in the County of York, Viscount Halifax in 1668, and Earl of Halifax in 1679, all also in the Peerage of England .
Biography. William Saville, 2nd Marquess of Halifax was born in 1665.2 He was the son of George Saville, 1st Marquess of Halifax and Lady Dorothy Spencer. He married Lady Mary Finch, daughter of Daniel Finch, 7th Earl of Winchilsea and Lady Essex Rich.
