Pavlov's Dog was composed originally of vocalist David Surkamp, guitarist Steve Levin, keyboardists David Hamilton and Doug Rayburn, bassist Rick Stockton, drummer Mike Safron, and violinist Siegfried Carver (born Richard Nadler).
Founded in 1973 as a quartet consisting of David, bassist Rick Stockton, violinist Siegfried Carver & drummer Mike Safron, the band was duly signed to ABC Records to the then unheard of sum of $500,000.

11 de fev. de 2021 · It even had a title: Has Anyone Here Seen Sigfried?, which related to Carver’s departure, and was a belated attempt to woo him back. Sigfried actually made a surprise appearance on the Admiral, puffing his pipe in Spinal Tap fashion, and the audience erupted.

Pavlov’s Dog formed in 1972 in St. Louis, Missouri, where singer David Surkamp assembled a seven-piece band with guitarist Steve Levin, bassist Rick Stockton, drummer Mike Safron, violinist Siegfried Carver, and keyboardists David Hamilton and Doug Rayburn. Surkamp grew up on folk and played piano, mandolin, and ukulele as a child.
There are two versions about the birth of the band, according to Mike Safron, he and Siegfried Carver decided to create PAVLOV'S DOG, but the best known version is that they started from the ashes of a small band named "HIGH ON A SMALL HILL" where David Surkamp and Rick Stockton played.
Pampered Menial is the debut album by American progressive rock / AOR band Pavlov's Dog, released in 1975. The album features a line-up comprising David Surkamp, Steve Scorfina, Mike Safron, Rick Stockton, David Hamilton, Doug Rayburn and Siegfried Carver (born Richard Nadler). Carver left the band soon after the album was released.
